I had no idea SaskTel was a 'world's first' as the press release indicated!! I thought ADSL had been launched at least in a few areas in the states!! It's great to see them once again taking a lead...they were very heavy into fiberoptic for years before anyone else but have not really 'wowed' me with anything for a few years.

Their first internet access was pathetic...they used a proprietary system linked to Pipeline....all fine and good...but it meant there was no support for those simply purchasing SLIP/PPP access..those who would have needed it most with new software, and the resultant installation quirks, arriving almost weekly. They finally caved in and have started offering basic SLIP/PPP, with support, through a consortium of telcos...SYMPATICO.

I'll be signing up for the ADSL...sounds great....and I'll be able to say goodbye to the World Wide WAIT!!!!

...dkp...
