Internal date fields in Win98 (as in NT and Win95) have been a binary format for a long time. It has been associated programs which had problems, and most of those are the same for Win98, Win95, and in most cases NT as well. You can get a comprehensive list on the MS web site (microsoft.com) - don't have the link handy but it's easy to find.

Netscape works fine with Win98, more stable than Win95.
