Gartner indicates moving from one NOS (network operating system) to another can be almost nine time as expensive as upgrading to a new release of the same NOS. It estimates that shifting a network of 2,500 end-users (on 33 file servers) from Netware 4.x to Netware 4.11 costs $123,645 (about $50 per user). Migrating the same network from Netware to NT costs in the neighborhood of $1,076,140 (roughly $430 per user). ...
