Paul, how small are you referring to? If you are talking about a 3-10 person operations then you might have a chance, but it still would have to be a decision to look at seriously. The media has been hyping that applications can only run on NT. This point has been taken to the extreme!

The majority of applications for smaller companies are not Client/Server systems that REQUIRE Back-Office. They are server-based databases that execute on the client. So, you would be hard pressed to find companies of this scale that REQUIRE client/server based solutions that only run on NT.

Also, as you just pointed out, NetWare servers CAN and DO act as Client/Server based Servers. In fact, NetWare 5 will now have Oracle8 5user version free with NetWare.

IntranetWare for Small Business are a great software package for small customers! And its very competitively priced. The cost of implementation and TCO will still beat a platform switch in most cases.

So I will still hold to my point that in almost every case, the platform conversion is because of stupidity or biasness.
