All: Just spoke to a sales person who's dumping her Nextel phones due to lack of coverage and competitive pricing.

Seems there are a bunch of dead spots west of Boston and the phone is not effective when she does business between Worcester and Springfield, Mass. She made the decision when the car broke down on the Mass pike and she couldn't call for help.

As far as the pricing goes, Cellular One is offering her a deal for an additional $10/person/month where you can talk to anyone else who has this plan as much as you'd like for free. Cell One's been saying that you dial a few extra digits and you can have a two way conversation without having to "push to talk".

Personally, I'm long on Nextel but I do believe that competition will slow this party down. I'm not convinced that 5 digit direct connect is much better than seven digit direct connect and pricing is a place where local wireless companies know how to compete.
