I think it's called short sightedness or using only half your brain.
Java is here to stay for a long long time, as well as Solaris much to the chagrin of certain posters ( well one, at least ) on this thread.
Also, NT is here to stay, at least I'll admit that. However, NT is not even close to taking over enterprise server applications and may never be. It may be OK on the desktop where it's not a big deal for one user to have to reboot, but you can't be doing that on a server with 1000's of users. Or in NT's case, a maximum of 600 users.
