re: With the technology that 'we' have right at our finger tips, and the ability to do 'online trading' and the advent of the 'day traders', those that take the time, and work the problem using the information that we have at hand, including all of the fine information here on the DELL thread, from both the BEARS, BULLS and VISITORS, we are relatively few with kind of time, should be able to do quite well, while the other 'poor investors' are waiting to get through to their brokers, a week or so late! I think that there are a number of people here that have done pretty well, just here in the hi tech area.

Ken,
Nothing ever changes but the date and the weather.

If you want to think that something is new different or exceptional today that was not in effect in a analoguous maner in another time, You will be sorely mistaken.
It takes more than just money to keep the market up.
Optimisim reigns supreme today.
Consumer confidence is at record highs.

In time, an event will change all of this. Since the dawn of time, the event has always occured.
I know many out there think their ivestment experience will save them, and for some it will. For many it won't.

I don't want to sound like a doom and gloomer, even though I do, But after every super bull market, there is a big nasty bear.

If the dollar starts to weaken, the foreign money will flee at a rate far greater than $20 Billion a month. MF cash levels are at record lows and total revenue growth for the market is the lowest it has been in many years.

These are the warning signs. They are not being acknowledged today, and on the next dip in the market, regardless of the reason, it will be looked at as a buying oppertunity.

The market may have already toped. It may goto 10,000 or 15,000. It can't go up @ 20% per year without solid earnings growth forever. Right now we have the 20% rate, but we don't have the earnings growth. The optimists say just wait for the second half, Well the first quarter was supposed to be much better too.

These trends have happened before. They will again. The general results are always the same. The names and dates change, sometimes it rains. The bear will return in a maner seen before. It will devastate. And after, for thoes that are left standing a new Bull will emerge.
The responces to this are that I can weather the storm. Well, people used to not evacuate when a huricane was coming because they thought they could weather the storm. History has tought some a lesson.
