Minera Andes and Abacus are not the only companies with prospects in this Patagonia area of southern Argentina. Yamana has recently issued assay results from three prospects, each with high grade silver and gold (ie 12m of 642 g/t Ag, 1.78 g/t Au and 6.1% lead). Anglo American has the multi-million ounce Cerro Vanguardia project which has grades of about 9 g/t gold. M.I.M. Holdings and Newcrest Mining have a joint venture at Cerro Negro. Triton Mining is also looking for a joint venture partner to carry its Manatial Espejo project through final feasibility.

This area is certainly developing into an area play.
