You admit to some guesswork in your post. I would agree.

The primary vehicle for Valence detractors has been to prey on the uncertainty generated by the company's silence. Fact is: you don't know much of anything about production progress at Valence (or, for that matter, what equipment was diverted to Henderson or even if it's still IN Henderson.)

Unlike ULBI, Valence has taken a zero PR approach, choosing instead to concentrate on refining and producing batteries, and letting the anticipated OEM agreements speak for their progress. I find it somewhat ironic that VLNC was hammered by detractors in the "old" days for engaging in hype. You just can't please the naysayers.

As for the press, well until recently the angle has invariably been:
"Consumers want a better battery, but no one can mass produce it."
It's easy to get gloomy quotes from people with financial interests in older generations of technology, or those who are still in R&D. The negative angle sells the story - at least that's how journalists see it. Well, I'm not surprised that Valence has better things to do than talk with the press. Perhaps that's why you don't see VLNC mentioned. Just another guess...
