Voodoo and astrology: Anybody in sound mind will not compare Voodoo and astrology to TA. I think the comparison is perfect! Astrology wraps itself up in the "scientific" cloak of astronomy, and shares some some words such as planet and orbit. Similarly, TA wraps itself in the cloak of statistics by using some common words, but that's where the similarity ends. Both practices are a lot closer to voodoo (a religious system with considerable magical overtones) then they are to science -- a system of knowledge based on proof and empirical studies that can be repeated by the non-believer. Years ago I looked at price and volume time series using ARIMA, a very sophisticated statistical approach to discerning trends. I found that the price movements followed what is called in statistics a random walk. So far as I know, everyone who has studied the market from a statistical and probabilistic approach has come to the same conclusion. So, until I see some solid evidence, not anecdotes, I will continue to believe this stuff is bunk. TTFN, CTC
