Techie: With all due repects, I disagree. If 56k modem had any conflict with xDSL, Rockwell wouldn't have bought Brooktree, which develops the HDSL chipsets in its San Diego division.

56k modem is about the upper limit of ordinary analog, what's next if USRX wants to stay in the business? xDSL. USRX can still sell its 56k since it's a lot cheaper than xDSL. But it doesn't mean USRX will buy AMTX, there are a few other inexpensive candidates.
