LD is dead. Sales stink and are going to zero. This is a way for image to exploit the current LD holders one last time and get rid of inventory nobody wants. I've got some 8 tracks your friend may want to buy... :-)

>If DISK locks up DTS distribution, don't they automatically get all DVDs/LDs with DTS? DTS is just starting to gain momentum in terms of the hardware.

DD is the current standard. DTS is gaining some popularity but most likely if it does succeed as a standard of sorts it will be support along with DD, they may get a few sole DTS DVDs on an exclusive basis but that would be a small percentage.

>My friend thought that Spielberg was reluctant to release to DVD without DTS.

Spielberg is paranoid about bootleggers, I don't think it has much to do about DTS.

As far as I can tell Image still has mostly "B" movies (for DVD). (For LD that is another story) They really don't have many exclusive contracts on films where it matters much. Also, they have had a quality problem in the past on DVDs.

Still no news. I am convinced Image is in talks with someone and insiders bought heavy on this news. This stock doesn't have the fundamentals to make a move like that on its own, not at this stage anyway. They would make a decent buy for a internet sales based business I suppose.
