A difficult question. I will try and invite others to chime in as well. I am not sure exactly why G-d requires a sacrifice, but the Word clearly says he does. First of all it seems to me to be a picture of the seriousness of sin. At Passover for instance, each Jewish household had to take a spotless lamb into their home and sort of care for it like a pet. Then the head of household killed it in front of the family. This is repulsive to me as well, but it is a picture of the repulsivness of our sins to G-d. I know this is an over simplification, and perhaps our more Jewish friends can help us out. To me, being a Christian is a type of sacrifice, as we are told to love G-d with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. This becomes a labor of love, but is a sacrifice of the desires of the carnal man. Is this making any sense. It is difficult for me to understand the mind of G-d on this. I believe there are spiritual aspects to this that man cannot understand. I am open to the ideas of other's. It should make for an interesting conversation. I will continue to pray about it, and will continue to consider it with you as we go on.
