Sigmass,

Good post. I'll see if I can address your concerns for the industry. Yes there are a couple of distributors offering product at 15%. The products being offered are the AGTI fixed unit and FortuNet. The distributor offering the AGTI equipment is simply trying to break into the market with the equipment, though I am not aware of any takers. There are a few catches to their deal. FortuNet has lowered their price in an attempt to hang on to their existing business. There have been some very significant service failures on the part of their distributor, so they are scrambling very hard.

Trend, which represents GameTech, has been able to stay above the fray of the small competitors. Pricing for GMTC equipment is based upon providing unmatched service and the term of commitment. Multi-year commitments enable a 20% lease price, while shorter terms will pay more. Over the past twenty months we have incrementally reduced our lease percentage in several stages, allowing us to further expand the market.

I am sure there are some manufacturers that are not meeting the success that they had projected here in Texas. Trend / GMTC however, continues to grow and set new records. Having such a large installed base provides much greater efficiency, thus the pace of incremental price decreases is probably appropriate in the case of GMTC. I will admit that not all in the industry will agree, though it is hard to argue with success.

I wouldn't worry to much about Native American lands? This is not an issue.

My friends in MS tell me that GMTC is having a very good year over there. I know that they just replaced the last remaining AGTI installation in MS.

1998 will be an interesting year, as there are many new opportunities, including the new route systems we just got approved here in Texas.
