Since you mentioned short term, lets take a look a Microsoft. It is almost back to where is was when it split, how many months ago? I bought it at close to the same price as long term investors. Maybe I'm stupid, I don't know, but I don't plan to watch it go up then down again. We all can't buy low and sell high, but after watching and riding out a few long term cycles, why ride the forth back to where you started? Is that good money management?

But, like I said, what the heck do I know, at least I'm not lazy, I keep Schwab in commissions, and my stock doesn't gain any weight from inaction.<VBG>
