Jeff,
Re: not succumbing to greed and "I am Borg"
As one of the older DEVELOPERS, as in seasoned (more accurately, beech wood aged) developers, I think you need to get more in touch with market realities ( One of the many realities that abound on SI). Did you notice that I used the title developer as opposed to programmer. Please get that straight. Also, when some of us are spouting "I am Borg", that's the older guys talking about the tennis tournament from 10 am to 2 pm daily. I suppose you think those young developers running around saying "I am the Tiger, wood" are just trying to get into management? That actually refers to the golf tournament from 8-10 am each day.
As to your comment regarding, "not succumbing to greed", we are more worried about, not SUCCEEDING at greed. Since many of us seasoned developers have contributed mightily to the Y2K problem, we are in a unique position to become Y2K consultants, hey, if you've never screwed up, how can you possibly counsel others on what not to do?
So Jeff, let's just end this here, show a little more respect for us DEVELOPERS. It's tough in this day and age, and whatever you do, do not send some memo that circulates during our pre-commute nap (2-5pm daily). Darn it's a wonder we get anything done with all this management interference.
Regards
Tom
