DeBeers has been pushing the idea that yellow stones should be fashionable and large clear yellows do bring good prices. However, brown, grey, black are of no value. If you are depending on colored stones to increase the value of the dyke, then think blue, green, pink, red (the rarest and so valuable that each carries an individual price). There are excellent links on www for pictures and values of colored stones. Colored stones, as far as I'm aware, have only been found in WSP's dyke. There have been wide spread reots of diamonds just about everywhere in North America. In most cases they are noting more than curiousities. But I've never read of colored diamonds being reported. Nor have I have seen reports of fancies in ABZ or DMM's pipes. Much will depend on size, clarity, and transparency of the color. Even a few (1/2 of 1%) large colored stones would make the pipe worth a great deal of money indeed. However, quality colored diamonds are so rare that WSP is going to have to have them in hand before any serious diamond players is going to take notice. it's a bit like saying your farm is grown over with truffles. No one's going to pay attention until the pig proves they're there.
If WSP is able to say they've found they have a half carat pink, blue or green that is clear, with no or only minor inclusions, then the market will sit up and take notice. |
