It really is the old pagan midwinter solstice festival, isn't it - a very sensible idea, indeed, to celebrate life, and a great occasion for it when the sun is at its lowest and about to turn and come back - but it's hardly 'sound [Christian] doctrine', especially since (I heard way back that) Christ was most likely born in early October (the month of Nissan, when the crops were coming in).>> It's a day that is set aside to reflect on the glory of God and His gift of salvation to mankind. Picking the midwinter festival made sense as it would give the heathen more to look forward to than just appeasing their appetites. It's understandable that the enemies of Christ want to do away with it. You won't find it as a commandment written in the scriptures if that's what your getting at but don't you celebrate your birthday? So what's wrong with setting aside one day in the year to celebrate the birth of the King of all Kings?. -Chris
