I believe that at the end of the 3rd quarter, and the first month of the last quarter of 1998 will see an escalation in certain Y2K stocks -- most of these stocks are way undervalued as it is....TAVA and IAIC will surge, and the smaller "Y2K Consultant" stocks will also ignite (DSFT especially).
As usual, I am basing this opinion on research and gut instinct (which has yet to let this gal down....). You know people, I live in a very small town and this week the local paper -- all four pages (lol)-- contained 3 news articles about Y2K & its potential impact. How's that for finally gettin' around to the little people?
Media is crucial for rural areas........usually takes months for real news to reach us, unless you subscribe to an out-of-town paper and/or have online access. The talk around these parts is that maybe the government will be so far out of the "loop" in 2000 that our farmlands will become goldmines. And, that's true.
