I don't understand your logic. Why does MSFT have to grow faster than the market to dominate it. Did they grow faster than the (majority of) other markets that they dominated? I doubt so very seriously. MSFT has more internal investment (in PC software) than all of the companies you mentioned ((Oracle, Sun, HP, Netscape, and now even IBM). What do you think that portends? Is that part of the reason for MSFT's recent increase in valution?

Now come, Bill. Since when is MSFT not leading or dominating in PC software? We are starting to depart from reality again.
