(OFF TOPIC) Last night (Tuesday) the East was red

And not in the sense that Chairman Mao ever contemplated. Every market in Asia was down including China's.

Greenspan was at the White House for an emergency meeting. Indonesia is melting fast as gas price hikes take effect. Clinton is in really deep political trouble in Indonesia. Suharto is capable of killing hundreds of thousands of people to retain power. And then there is Japan, nearing the critical 15,000 mark. Taiwan and Hong Kong are starting to feel the economic slowdown in Asia. No one in the US can contemplate the depth of these problems without getting sick.

In these circumstances to paraphrase the late Deng Shao Ping "to horde gold is good."

================

I'm still looking for a final Bull market rally before the end, but the negatives are mounting faster and faster in inverse proportion to the Nikkei.
