Re: One off-the-wall idea on how the Y2K sector can help itself

When there was talk about limiting fees for doctors, the AMA jumped to their aid. When there's talk of cuts in entitlements, the AARP twist arms in Washington. Mention any restrictions on firearms and the NRA will be on your case immediately.

So when people laugh off Y2K as a minor annoyance, who blitzes the media to set the record straight? No one. Nada. Zippo.

Even worse, Y2K companies seem to be bending over backwards to apologize for being in the Y2K business. What a bunch of wimps.

Perhaps the Y2K vendors should all unite. Hire a PR firm; start a lobbying group... something! Be proud to be part of elite group charged with saving the world from certain calamity if the Millennium Bug is not taken seriously.

We need TV ads. Radio spots. Full-page newspaper layouts. Cover stories in major magazines.

Any volunteers? (gg)
