Vice President, International Leaves to Lead Global Link's
Development of its Global InterNetwork(SM) Project
FAIRFIELD, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 1998-- USA Global Link,
Inc., the world's largest provider of discount international
telecommunications services, announced today that R.C. Mark Baker has joined the
company as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Baker, formerly a member of
the senior management team of AT&T, and Executive Vice President,
International, will assume the new position at USA Global Link almost immediately.
First launched in March of 1997, USA Global Link's Global InterNetwork(SM)
is the world's first international, facilities-based communications
network based on Internet Protocol (IP) technology. The company has
formed a partnership with 3Com (Nasdaq: COMS) to engineer, build and
deploy the network infrastructure for the highly advanced, Global
InterNetwork(SM). This ubiquitous $2.2 billion high-speed fiber-optic
and wireless (IP) network of networks, will have over 1000 switched
points of presence (PoP) worldwide. When the Global InterNetwork(SM)
is fully deployed, practically every major city in the world with a
population in excess of 500,000, will host a Global SuperPoP(SM)
switch, delivering cost-efficient data, voice, fax, video, and
broadband multi-media services.
