Edwin, A month ago I would have agreed with you, but are you aware of this latest news...Southwestern Bell (that's the only one of the baby Bells I know about because I live in TX) is currently offering to all customers a pretty attractive deal. With no strings attached, you can hook up to Caller ID for free, get the 1st month free, and receive a free Caller ID receiver unit. I was suckered by this offer and now I am hooked on the service. I know the same is true of a number of my friends. Now here's the interesting note...all the Caller ID receiver units they are shipping are CIDCO units. I fell in love with the service once I tried it and I believe a lot of other people will too. And you know what I did then? I had to go out and buy another receiver unit, because one is not enough! In fact, you really need one for every phone! The point is...I think the phone companies may have found a way to expand the Caller ID market successfully. It worked with me. Now I'm not sure what the impact on CIDCO's bottom line is, but it sure can't hurt. What do you think?
