I have always said that TV doesn't rot your brain, it's the kind of TV shows you watch that rots your brain. I watch a lot of the Discovery Channel, A&E, and TLC. I always learn so much watching those stations and I find balancing those types of programs with regular viewing still keeps my mind alive. I will sit and watch programs about bacteria, viruses, ants, or whatever and generally get lots of groans from the family members. They are great sources of information especially for Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy. I often get, "How did you know that?" and when I explain TV, you should see the surprised looks I get.

When I was very young, we had one TV, and every night at 6:00 I watched the news with my father. I still watch the news every single night, and I thank my father for instilling the importance of it in my mind.
