Keep in mind that every year people buy tens of thousands, if not millions of personal computers with no floppy disk. They are called laptops. They do, however, have CD-drives (most of them anyhow). The question is, how are you going to load software into the iMac then? Answer: You take it to your local Apple dealer who has an ethernet, load the CD-ROM into a machine and play away. Thus the built in ethernet card... (yeap, this last part is pure speculation)
