I think Kal's point is well taken. Money rotates and sectors go hot
and cold. One problem is there is so much misinformation to
overcome. ISLI is solid and for a long term investor I see no problem
but it gets frustrating. I do think that ISLI suffers some from
association with the Y2K issue and being in the DeJager Index but
again, if that turns around, we will be happy. The real problem in
my mind is that there is a myopic view that these companies are only
Y2K oriented and the Y2K problem will be over after the year 2000 and
in fact, since we are so close maybe they are already nearing the
backend of the bell shaped revenue curve so they are no longer
attractive. In at least ISLI's case nothing could be further from
the truth. Also, the better known companies like VIAS are tools
oriented and tools are taking a back seat to services but then the
services companies get dragged down by the tools companies due to
being in the same index, and so on. But the real reason you are
seeing this frustration is last quarter's earnings when things were
positive and though it was a conservative conference call, it was
still good. Business looks positive and yet the stock got
crushed from 19 and change back to 14. You would like to assume some
level of rationality to the market (always dangerous!) so this was
unexpected. So you double up and wait it out.
