I think we have to trust other people. Yes, it can open you up to pain and misfortune, but it can also open you up to love, and a feeling of interconnectedness(is that a word?:-) )with humanity. I dont think god put us here to be isolated from our fellow human beings. I dont think he wants us to have fellowhip with him/her only. I think that as a people, as we increase the frequency of love, we are getting closer as a group to God.
I would also like to clarify one thing. I am not against or even necessarily a disbeliever in Jesus. I just think that Gods love is more inclusive and far ranging than just those that have professed their allegiance/acceptance of Jesus, let alone those that have even heard of him. I say that with no disrespect intended, It is my belief, and what makes sense to me.
