>>who can tell what greenspan said...he is so boring he could say something earthshattering and I would miss it<<
See, that is an indication of the power he has. I actually tried to listen to him as he was talking--and given his delivery, if it had been anyone else, I'd have been asleep in no time.
>>I have something for the TT and OJ debate
Actually lisa, I saw a post of yours that IMO, was a very shrewd point about this whole internet potential thing. First, on these advertising banners, you said that you don't even notice them and its been months since you clicked on one of them--that is exactly my situation. I have never purchased anything using the net--other than trading stocks. Have you done so? In fact, how many people on this thread have done so--and even if they have, how significant have these purchases been? Longer term, the net could well become a major factor in commerce, but I suspect it has a much longer horizon than most proponents of the concept would acknowledge--and therein lies the difference in perspective. As for the worldwide impact, it assumes ready access to computers/phone lines/the net and credit cards--and most of the world, even the Western world, is not even close to the US in these facets of life.
So to me, this is an arena that has a lot of untapped promise and potential -- but the real dividends will be some way in the future. There will have to be a fundamental change in the mindset of people before that happens--and that takes time.
But that is not to say that OJ may not get his baklava before reality strikes--even if I am right:) |
