If not for that DIVX "standard", DVD sales might be through the roof. Surprised NMBS stock is struggling given their DIVX connection and DVD replication facilities. Image Entertainment (DISK) will also do quite well from DVD sales as they are #2 in DVD distribution behind one of the big studios. Unfortunately, DISK will lose $$ from declining laserdisc sales but DVD market will eventually be two orders of magnitude more than LD market. Someone had posted before that DISK is a competitor of NMBS. On reading more, I think that NMBS could potentially be a customer of DISK since DISK handles the mastering, packaging, and distribution, but I believe they outsource the compression and replication to places like Warner Bros. Advanced Media Operations (which is a competitor to NMBS).
