Yes, I believe that is wrong. No one can know *for certain* that their cancer was caused by any particular carcinogenic insult, radiation being just one of many we all face throughout our lives.

If the Feynmann book is reputable, as you say, the author may have been quoting him accurately. But wasn't he quite ill at the time? Maybe the illness affected his cognitive faculties in a detrimental manner. That is all I can think of to explain it.
