Rodney,

DSL Lite is a different beast than xDSL (full-fledged.) DSL Lite is a subset of xDSL that allows the ISP to provide you with a special modem and driver in order to get to around 128kps without the need of the telcos upgrading your phone line. For full-fledged xDSL to work, the telco must add a device outside your home to allow splitting of voice and data on the same wire.
