This is interesting because they gave it to public domain and no longer own it.

Who will benefit? Netscape would. They wrote a nice program and deserve money for their efforts. Microsoft would also in the short term as people would buy IE also. Long term, their predatory tactic of software dumping would be hindered.


Software dumping? Like giving away the source code to the public domain? Didn't Netscape's release of their source code basically destroy any other company (other than MS) that ever wanted to write and sell a browser? Shouldn't they be sued into the Stone Age?
