One could write a book about MEMS but I noted several suggestions on the thread re sources of info .IMHO MEMS will be part of the explosive growth of new technology in the coming years,. MMS ARE MICROELECTROMECHANICAL DEVICES SUCH AS THE GADGETS THAT TRIGGER THE air bags in autos. Using an etch process a micro something is produced on silicon or? in much the same way as a chip is produced You may have heard of autos the size of a grain of rice, or the dynamo that produces power for a laptop,but is only the size of a shirt button. A whole class of gadgets that could be called sensors are going to be in use to monitor such as acceleration, temperature, pressure, thickness or you name it, and the institute for the future predicts that the age of sensors will follow fast on the heels of the present age of connectivity. If you check out the MEMS thread you will find many links to the MEMS WORLD. I just wanted to get this thread back on to examination of the future of the business of PTIS.
Not that the OPTION question is unimportant, it is , but perhaps some of us who are concerned with the relationship between workers, owners, and management should start another thread.
Excuse my rambling and repetitiveness but i feel strongly that pTIS is involved with the fastest growing sector. My only long term question is what portion of their business has to do with flat screen [liquid crystal ] I ask this because on May 14 SIDT is to demonstrate a a flat screen produced by very different process and if successful may revolutionize the whole ball game as to how and what equipment will be used. However, even if the new process is successful it may take a while to be adopted, nevertheless if the flat screen biz is a significant part of our projection for PTIS it we should be aware of it.
