Now, you're probably going to kick my ass for asking this, since you "... *live* with select, cut and paste!". Nonetheless, have you tried highlighting the block of text, typing CTRL-C, hopping over to a word processor or text editor, and typing CTRL-V? Maybe your browser won;t allow CC&P, but Win3.x certainly ought to.

My most humble and sincere apologies if I am once again stating the obvious. (My next suggestion is going to be to get a real browser (and OS)). <vvbg>
