1. Because in earlier applications, cobalt has better efficiency with (most) natural gas. But cobalt can be poisoned by some of the bad stuff in refinery bottoms. I believe the jury is still out on efficiencies in real life, as most of the variations on cobalt have not actually been tested in real-life installations. I recollect only SASOL and Shell to have built producing installations, and Shell's blew up.


2. Because RNTK has a patent on the iron-based technology <grin>.
