NOVELL announces "SpinWeb" Contest.....

Below is an article regarding a Webpage design contest sponsored by Novell. My interest was to see the actual product "results" using Novell's design tools & server technology. Check out the public sites which use Novell's WEB server technology.

I am not too impressed yet...BUT...give their customers some time to develop "trick" applications. As this occurs, more people will notice Novell's entry into this market!

NOVELL ANNOUNCES 'SPIN YOUR OWN WEB' CONTEST

March 25, 1996, 7:55 AM EST

WHAT: Novell(R)'s "Spin Your Own Web" contest rewards designers who use NetWare(TM)Web Server. There are two contests: "Cool Web Page" and "Get Spotted," both at novell.com or webnlm.novell.com.

WHEN: The contest runs from February 15 through July 26, 1996. Winners will be announced every Thursday.

GOAL: To demonstrate how easy it is for NetWare4(TM) users to install NetWare Web Server and create a web page.

PRIZES: The weekly winners will receive either a T-shirt or watch. The names and URL address of the "Cool Web Page" contest will be posted on the Novell's Winners' Circle Web page. Additionally, all participants will receive a Webmaster gift pack and participating resellers will
receive a banner.

Highlights of Rules:
Participants must have a web page on a Novell NetWare Web Server to enter either contest.
For the "Cool Web Page" contest, entrants need to:
Create a web page and place the NetWare Web Server banner on it.
Register the URL of the web page with Novell.

The web pages will be judged on the basis of originality, artistic appeal, technique and scripting abilities.

Participants may enter the "Cool Web Page" contest unlimited times, but each entry must be for a different web page.

For the "Get Spotted" contest, entrants need to:
Place the Novell banner that says "Powered by NetWare Web Server" (.gif file) on an existing web page.

Register the URL of the web page with Novell.

One prize will be awarded weekly by a random drawing from all the entries. All non-winning entries will be carried over each week until they win or the contest ends.

Participants can enter both contests if desired. For both contests, winners will be notified by e-mail.

NetWare Web Server turns NetWare 4.x servers into World Wide Web sites. Users can install and configure the software and create a web page in less than 10 minutes.
