John, quantum mechanics does not present problems, it present opportunities. The whole field of semiconductor devices is based on the quantum mechanical behavior of charge carriers in solids (a "hole" is a quantum mechanical concept with little validity in the old Maxwellian scheme of electrodynamics). Of course, Moore will flounder at some point (I would guess at around 20 or so lattice parameters, or about 100 angstroms, which is .01 microns), but optical lithography may flounder first. Long time before that happens, however.
