At UCLA, every dorm room is equipped with 2 ethernet ports providing access to a T1
connection. If this machine is intended for college students, then there is no need for
a modem or a floppy drive with internet access that quick. -Dylan

Yes, but since occasionally people might like to back up their data, the iMac still provides no easy way to do this. However, considering that many people who have SCSI ports on their Macs don't do this, perhaps this point is moot.

Consumers will probably eat this machine up anyway, if that's what their focus groups have indicated people want in a cheap computer.
