Richard IBM's next release of OS/2 (Aurora) not on Merced

" So far, IBM has no plans yet to make OS/2 Warp Server over into a 64-bit operating system to run on Intel Corp.'s Merced.

... Smith said. The decision to port OS/2 Warp to Merced will depend on customer demand, he added.

Consider OS/2 and NT are based on the same kernel , and Rhapsody supports NT ...so why does IBM want this known now ?

Conversely , if one considers MSFT as AAPL's blood brother than closely read CNN's transcript of S Jobs' very upbeat presentation yesterday :

Announcer: "And I noticed you weren't at the rally, Steve, for Bill Gates in his quest to stave off the Justice Department. Were you asked?

Jobs: "I wasn't invited but we were pretty busy getting ready for this (points to the iMac) and getting our own house in order."

Worth a read , even mentions the "I" word :

WWDC will be big ! S Jobs deserves praise , but also E. Hancock , the prime mover and visionary of an AAPL software company .
