**Will the "FALSE END OF FILE" Y2K problem strike this summer? Can anyone state with authority whether or not this problem will cause serious visible disruptions starting this summer? Many old systems use "99" to identify EOF (end of file) When "99" begins to be entered, computers will think the actual data is the end of the file. SSA and IRS systems supposedly have some systems with this problem. *Fiscal year turnover for 46 states is July 1, 1998, hence this will be the first day of "1999" for most states. Will this problem cause a noticeable problem with the databases of state governments? All opinions welcome!! THC
