It seems like that Intel just dropped another $100 on its Pentium II 300 to crash its competitors' profitability, i.e. AMD K6-300.

Intel CPU monopoly must be stopped. When there is no competition, Intel screws end users with ridiculously inflamed high prices. When competitors came up with competitive chips, Intel slashed the prices to keep competitors from making profits with new chips and destroys the chip value that sitting in the end users newly bought boxes.

This world would be better off without Intel!
