<< Do you really believe that there's no difference between these examples and what microsoft did to Netscape by leveraging its OS monopoly to distribute IE for free?>>

Indeed there's a difference. But then Netscape became established
by giving it's browser away, right? So they can do it but msft
can't?

I would agree that software and technology in general have some
legal issues to resolve/evolve, and also that big companies in
general need to be watched. What I object to are these x-file type
posts that see collusion everywhere and msft as a do-nothing bully.

It's just complete crap.

I've got an audio system that uses components from several different
manufacturers: sound card, scsi interface, midi interface, graphics
adapter, sequencer software, and it's virtually impossible to get
support for it because they all point their fingers at each other.
***to me, this is the scam***

Protect innovation? You mean so a dozen or so coders can spit
out an alpha quality piece of shit that doesn't even have all of the
advertised features implemented?

The current action against msft is being driven by msft competitors.
At some point that mass-majority of consumers who appreciate
what msft does will speak up. The current noise wll be nothing
in comparison.
