All,
Some news on Molecular Simulations, but not very significant IMO. Sounds like the product could have a potentially large market. But I have no info on this size or on competing products. Just to keep everyone up to date.
Good trading, Jim Lang

ChemWeb Publishes Software Product Review of MSI's WebLab ViewerPro
"WebLab Viewer is a very impressive program"
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 1998-- ChemWeb's The Alchemist has published a software product review of WebLab ViewerPro from Molecular Simulations Inc.
ViewerPro builds, displays and manipulates molecular models on a desktop PC, helping scientists to present and share chemical information.
Reviewer Dr. Jonathan Goodman of Cambridge University said, ''WebLab Viewer is a very impressive program.'' He continued, ''The software has applications in education, teaching students about chemical structure, and in research, where it assists communication of results and ideas.''
Receiving four marks out of a possible five, the software program was reviewed for ease of use, ease of learning, documentation quality, usefulness to students, usefulness to teachers, academic content, meeting its objectives, and accuracy.
Dr. Goodman said, ''I discovered that there were a great many useful functions...including the display of proteins as ribbons, or as schematics, building crystal structures from single unit-cells, and displaying different parts of complexes in contrasting ways.''
''A particularly impressive feature is the ability to examine a molecule from a remote WWW server,'' said Dr. Goodman. It is possible to type in the URL of a molecule, and download it into the program from any WWW server.
''WebLab ViewerPro is a powerful program, which runs smoothly on a PC, and gives the possibility of rapid chemical communication,'' said Dr. Goodman. ''The program provides a solid basis for presenting chemistry on the internet.''
''WebLab ViewerPro presents a wide range of functionality in a clear and consistent way. The program should be useful in a research context, in order to prepare presentations, slides, interactive displays, and information to communicate new discoveries,'' said Dr. Goodman. |
