One option which is still being explored (although not seriously, according to one source) is a two-button version of Apple's cool USB mouse.

I have used trackballs, erasers, and mice (optical and mechanical). With one, two and three buttons as well as the wheel in the new IntelliMouse from M$.

IMHO there is no question that more buttons are better and that we wheel is a very welcomed addition (I spend a lot of time scrolling)

Einstein said that things should be made as simple as possible but no simpler.

Apple would be well advised to follow this precept. I appreciate Mac's simplicity of use, but how dumb you have to be not to distinguish between the left and right button?
