So if Microsoft includes code in its operating system that seeks out and destroys any software it finds on your hard disk that isn't a Microsoft product, that would be just peachy with you? What about if they just include code that takes an inventory of what you've got and, the next time you're browsing the Internet, reports back to Redmond? What about if they include code that randomly inserts errors into the results of any software they care to target? What about if they seek out information about your banking connections from your hard disk and make a few unauthorized withdrawals?

I don't see how any of these scenarios violate patent or copyright law, so I guess you would condone them. I'm not saying Microsoft has ever done any of these things, but I want you to accept the possibility that there are other laws that are germane, and not just patent and copyright laws. I contend that the anti-trust laws are among such other laws.

No company, no matter how big or popular, should be able to put itself above the law.

JMHO.
