Maxer, RE: MSFT vs Netscape

Thanks for your comments as well. I do really want MS under a lot pressure but under market pressure and not government pressure.

I think Netscape is taking a risk in publishing the source code. They may end up with a better browser than Microsoft could ever build. Or they could end up with a mess. Will be interesting to watch.

Agree that they(netscape) are taking a risk. I REALLY hope that it works out and they put a lot of pressure on Microsoft. I want to have a great browser. IE4.0 is not great. It is just a bit better than Netscape in some areas.

Netscape has always been just a one product company, but the street hyped them as serious threat to MS. Well, it worked and Bill turned MS on a dime and 6-12months latter MS was an 'internet' company. I strongly feel that Bill did an amazing thing. He missed the wave of the internet, had a revelation, then paddled like hell and now MS is riding it. I know a product manager at MS and we have talked about this a couple of times. He lived at MS for those months. MS has a barbarians at the gates mentality.

JMO,

Chris
