Anthony, I think today's rise has just as much to do with the overall market and not as much as the Bob Dole and $285M stories.
Doing a little math, as of last Monday approx. 450K prescriptions have been filled w/ an average of 11 pills @ $10 a piece retail = $49.5M, @ $7 a piece @ wholesale = $34.65M.
Therefore the $285M sold this far must be "wholesale" sales, not counter sales.
Either the pharmacies are stocking an 8 week supply or they anticpate a rapidly accelerating demand :)
Whoever it is that posts here whose wife is a pharmacist, please find out how many days supply pharmacy's normally stock on popular drugs. With that information we ought to be able to forecast anticipated demand and near-term sells projections.

I ran into a friend of mine's sister yesterday at the grocery store. She has worked as an administrative assistant for VA Hospital's Urology Dept for the past 5 years. She asked me if I have heard of Viagra. I told her that I had, and without elaborating or prompting her, she began to tell me that their staff can't even keep up with the phones! She tells me patients they haven't seen in years are popping up, hanging out in the hallway (because they can't wait 2 or 3 weeks for an appointment), hoping to catch the urologists so they can ask for Viagra prescriptions! She says she has never seen anything like this. Urologist are working overtime and seeing more patients per hour than normal and the appointments are beginning to go from a 2 to 3 week wait to a 4 to 5 week wait.
