Of course it's good to get out while the trade is moving. But, sometimes it reverses too quick and you can't really tell and you still need a good, fast, clean and reliable way to get out, even if the stock is now tanking on you, especially then.

SelectNet don't work then because no one is buying, your bids aren't very visable to the market, especially when preferencing. If you preference more than one MM you might get killed with multiple fills. You can't offer on ISLD at or below the bid, SOES is crap at that point, etc. Not knowing SOES tier level on your stock, or not fully understanding how the Smart Keys work can be a real problem.

If you're stuck with 2,000 shares of something that's now on the way down, you got a real problem. You could easily lose a point trying to exit, and a week's profits in the process. And, if you trade often enough, long enough, this happens to everyone.
