Yes, this is what so many people have missed and just plain not understood for so long. DELL really doesn't compete with any box maker, DELL is in a competition with itself. DELL is one of the kings of supply chain logistics in the world and clearly dominates the other box makers. If you head to your local library this weekend be sure to check the May-June 1998 Harvard Business Review. DELL is featured as an example in the article Profit Pools: A Fresh Look at Strategy pp.139-147 Dell is covered in pages 144-146. A companion article on the topic starts on pg 149. Regards,
